Battery Projects
Our team is experienced in developing a variety of battery products and can bring this expertise to meet your needs for battery development. No projects are the same, but a typical project to develop a demonstrator battery system would include:
Concept Study
Typically lasting 2-4 weeks, the team undertakes a fast and practical study, producing a comprehensive report consisting of:
- Expected / Target Battery Specification
- Basic cell testing + analysis
- Cell -> Module -> Pack simulation
- Design outline, specifying key components
- Ongoing project plan
Prototyping and product development
Following the concept study, the team will develop the concept into a number of prototypes. These include:
- Mechanical Prototype
- Benchtop Prototype (shown image)
- Functional Prototype
- Manufacturing "A-sample"
For rapid turnaround of prototypes and systems, OBD have a number of pre-designed and tested battery platforms ready to be configured for specific projects at short notice.
Testing and Validation
Following the production of a manufacturing sample, testing can then be performed in-house:
- Performance testing
- Cycle Testing
These tests are performed in a climate chamber to maintain constant conditions.
Data is made available through the OBD web dashboard and subsequent testing report
Additionally, OBD will support external testing required for international product compliance.
Ongoing support and development
Should the demonstrator be continued through to a manufactured product, leverage OBD's supply chain expertise to support the product into the market.
